Quartz is a durable, and very popular material for kitchen and bathroom countertops. It is a man-made material manufactured through the mixing and compressing of natural quartz derived from granite and epoxy resins. Though the patterns and tones are fairly consistent to the samples, quartz can still be susceptible to slab variations.
Quartz is a non porous material, so no sealing is required. This also means you will not have to worry about it harboring bacteria in your kitchen or bathroom. It is low maintenance, easy to clean and stain resistant. If exposed to heat it can become damaged, so trivets should be used. Quartz is often more expensive than granite.
